What Do The Terms Parent, Child and Sibling Mean?

One of the things that it is useful to be able to do is discuss the organization and relationship of the branches with each other.  This allows the Mind Map to be explained to others as well as give yourself a mental map of the relationship.  These terms are also used in the documentation that comes with iMindMap to orientate yourself around the instructions for various features.  So for example a Child Map is one that began life as a populated branch on another map and was then sectioned off to be a Mind Map in its own right.  Its Parent Map is the original Mind Map it came from.

We have written an article on the Parent, Child and Sibling Relationship that explains this in more detailed and illustrates it with an example Mind Map.
